What I do

Katia Nikitina is a full-time student working towards her MSW, as well as an intern with the Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC). Katia will be assisting IHAC in research and program development to better inform social responses to animal cruelty and neglect.

Katia has nine years of professional experience working with at-risk populations, including elders, adolescents, and individuals experiencing intimate partner violence. She recently completed an internship with the Phoenix Center of Auraria in which she was able to gain direct experience in victim advocacy, case management, and safety planning. Katia’s professional interests include conservation social work and interspecies advocacy, with a passion for marine wildlife and habitats.
