Youth Engaged in Leadership and Learning (YELL) research project
To understand whether, and under what conditions, participation in youth-led participatory research facilitates social trust of policy makers.
A mixed methods study of the implementation of the YELL Program, a youth-led participatory research (YPAR) project designed to increase opportunities for youth voice at the Bridge project, which primarily serves low-income adolescents of color. Research methods include observations, focus groups and surveys. The outcome of interest is social trust. Implications of the study might be that after school programs, and YPAR specifically, are an under-studied resource in early adolescents' development of social trust and belonging.
