An effective agenda sets clear expectations for what needs to occur before and during a meeting. Likewise, in a coaching relationship, knowing the client’s hopes and goals for their coaching journey helps set them up for success. As a coach, it is part of our role to help the client establish the coaching agenda and hold it. Often, in a coaching journey, there is more than one agenda. The big “A” agenda tells a story about who the client is and their vision for the future. Meanwhile, the little “a” agenda focuses on the specific outcomes or decisions they want to make. Putting both A/agendas together creates a powerful package, one that tells an inspiring story about who the client is and where they are headed, combined with a series of little agendas that lead step by step towards the realization of their vision. In this session we will explore the role of the coach in holding their client’s agendas and identify ways to do so.
