Professional Biography
Shenhaye Ferguson is an Adjunct Faculty at the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW), University of Denver. As a first-generation university student, she holds a B.A. in History and M.A. in Higher Educational Management from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Denver (DU), Colorado. Dr. Ferguson has over 12 years of experience in higher education administration, research, teaching, and student and community social services. Her scholarship is dedicated to exploring and fostering access, persistence, and equity in higher education for all students, emphasizing teaching and learning from a local and international context within a racially diverse learning environment.
GSSW Graduate level courses taught by Dr. Ferguson include Leadership and Supervision Skills, Disproportionality and Disparities Across Systems and Power, Privilege and Oppression from a Critical Multicultural Perspective.
Shenhaye’s leadership and faculty experiences demonstrate her dedication to higher education and student development. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Shenhaye was selected for NASPA’s Cohort VIII of the Emerging Faculty Leader Academy, and in 2025, Dr. Ferguson was recognized with the DU Faculty Career Champion Award.
