One of the things students love most about GSSW is its vibrant, passionate, and inquisitivecommunity of scholars. GSSW Student Engagement supports students in all 4 of DU’s MSW programs with ways to engage with members of the GSSW community outside of the classroom. Connect with Student Engagement to learn more about ways to enrich your graduate school experience through offerings such as the GSSW Mentorship Network, student organizations, support groups, special programs, and an array of supportive services.
Crimson Constellation is DU's networking platform and provides opportunities to connect with peers, staff, faculty, and community partners. Crimson Constellation also provides access to an array of GSSW groups.
The Denver Campus hosts a variety of events for students throughout the year, from Welcome Week gatherings to wellness workshops and social and learning opportunities — all aiming to enrich your educational experience and help you connect with your GSSW community. The Advocate
The Advocate is a student newsletter for Denver Campus MSW students. It is sent out every other Wednesday during the academic year and as needed during the summer. Review it regularly to learn about programming, volunteer opportunities, registrar deadlines, and social events! The Denver Campus Graduate Student Association (GSA) contributes to GSSW’s vibrant community by helping to center the student voice in representative school governance. GSA organizes community events; provides professional development opportunities; provides a forum for GSSW students to discuss questions, concerns, or ideas; and shares student feedback with GSSW leadership.
ECO Conscious promotes conservation and environmental justice in the GSSW community and beyond by focusing on three critical goals: 1) educating and enlisting the DU community to use Earth's resources responsibly, 2) fostering greater connection with Earth through opportunities to explore and enjoy nature, and 3) advocating for political change for environmental justice through organized action. ECO is open and welcoming to all GSSW Denver Campus MSW students.
Queer Liberation Alliance is a space for queer folx and allies to sustain community, educate others, and advocate for liberation in order to create a radical sense of belonging and culturally responsive inclusivity at GSSW and the broader community. QLA is open and welcoming to all GSSW Denver Campus MSW students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex.
The Shades of Brown Alliance (SOBA) is a student-led organization that strives to offer a gathering place for students of color to commune, support, and encourage one another as we navigate being BIPOC at GSSW and DU. SOBA is open and welcoming to all GSSW Denver Campus MSW students regardless of race or color. SOBA is open to collaborating with other students, student organizations, community members, faculty, alumni, and staff at GSSW and the greater DU community towards making lasting and necessary changes to build the kind of radical learning environment needed to prepare us for the spaces we'll be (re-)entering upon graduation.
Social Workers for Social Justice (SWFSJ) organizes the GSSW community to support and participate in grassroots anti-oppressive community action. SWFSJ is welcoming and open to all GSSW Denver Campus MSW students. The mission of Social Workers for Social Justice is to organize the GSSW community to support and participate in grassroots anti-oppressive community action. Together, we will connect with a spectrum of social justice-based organizations and learn crucial community organizing and activism skills.
