Professional Biography

Akeem (he/his) is from the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. He earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work from The University of the West Indies. Since graduating he was appointed as an adjunct faculty at The University of the West Indies teaching several undergraduate courses in social work, early childhood development and family studies. Modeste-James' also worked as a psychiatric social worker, working with clients diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety disorders. Modeste-James' research interests are religiosity and help seeking behaviors.
