Professional Biography
Alex Ochs (he/him/his) has a BSW and a minor in music from Elizabethtown College and an MSS with a concentration in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. He is also a graduate of the three-year certificate program in adult psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. Following his MSS, Ochs worked in community mental health as a therapist and care coordinator for persons living with HIV and serious mental illness; as a behavioral health consultant in a pediatric HIV clinic in North Philadelphia; and, as an HIV youth-focused social worker at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's Infection Medicine practice. His research interests include the transition from pediatric to adult HIV care, integrated healthcare and LGBTQ+ affirming social work practice. He strives to approach his research and clinical work through an intersectional lens that is both trauma and developmentally informed.
