Professional Biography
Jax graduated with his Bachelor of Social Work from Calvin University and Master of Social Work from Michigan State University. Prior to enrolling at GSSW, Jax worked at DataWise Consulting, a social research and program evaluation firm based in Michigan. At DataWise, Jax performed qualitative and quantitative evaluation work with non-profits, religious organizations, and local/state government. Jax's research interest centers on the concept of belonging; more specifically, belonging in religious spaces and sports. Jax believes that no matter one’s identity, they should be able to exist and thrive in these two spaces that foster a sense of belonging and community. Outside of GSSW, Jax is a collegiate triathlon coach and enjoys all things involving movement and the outside.
