Professional Biography
Anna Wasim is a dedicated social worker and researcher focused on enhancing support systems for children and families. Her work centers on evaluating and refining programs and policies to better serve kinship caregivers and foster families. Drawing from her direct practice experience with survivors of abuse and her family's own experience with kinship caregiving, Anna approaches her research with both professional insight and personal empathy. This dual perspective allows her to address gaps in child welfare and advocate for policy changes that uplift families facing systemic challenges.
Anna Wasim approach emphasizes the importance of community partnerships and collaboration, believing that impactful change arises from shared knowledge and collective action. She worked with community-based and government agencies in Austin, Texas before joining the University of Texas at Austin as a program manager and evaluator. In this role, she continued to build on partnerships statewide to evaluate interventions focused on improved responses for individuals and families within the criminal legal and child welfare systems.
As an incoming PhD student at DU, Anna is eager to join an academic body that is committed to improving social good and a more equitable society where every family can thrive.
