Professional Biography
Iris A. Vanegas (she/her/ella) is a queer Xicana from Pomona, California. She was raised in a mixed-status family. She received her Master of Public Health from California State University, Los Angeles. Iris holds experience as a Case Manager working for various non-profits throughout Los Angeles County. Iris has primarily focused on family reunification and child abuse prevention. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her beloved fur babies. At GSSW, she will study intimate partner violence in Undocumented Immigrant Latinx Women. Iris’ first year graduate assistantship will be supervised by Dr. Miriam G. Valdovinos.
