Luca Maccagno
Research Assistant II
What I do
Born in Argentina and raised in El Salvador, Luca's life has been defined by their experiences as an immigrant. Before living in Colorado, Luca spent time in Canada, where they began their post-secondary studies, and then in Texas, where they completed their BA in English. In 2017, Luca moved to Colorado to pursue a career in education with a focus on emerging bilinguals. As a burgeoning researcher, Luca's area of interest has been language acquisition, but they are keen to learn more about all areas of education and other systems that support the development of children and families. At its core, Luca's work is driven by the desire to serve marginalized communities through sustainable culturally informed practices. At Butler, Luca currently works on projects in early childhood and provides general assistance with translations in their native language, Spanish.
Outside of work, Luca enjoys walking around the city, making art, and going on hikes with friends.
