Professional Biography
Alejandra C. Perez, MSW is an affiliate faculty member teaching graduate-level social work courses with a focus on health, policy, leadership, and advocacy. She currently serves as the Director of External Affairs at a large community health center system, where she leads government relations, community partnerships, media, and health policy advocacy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels.
Alejandra’s professional background spans healthcare, community-based practice, and systems-level policy work. She brings real-world experience into the classroom, grounding course content in current policy issues, interdisciplinary practice, and the lived realities of the communities social workers serve. Her teaching emphasizes critical thinking, ethical leadership, and the integration of micro, mezzo, and macro practice.
As a first-generation Latina and daughter of immigrants, Alejandra is deeply committed to inclusive and culturally responsive practice. She values learning spaces that are reflective, collaborative, and rooted in care. She encourages students to show up with curiosity, compassion, and courage as they grow into the social work profession.
