What I do

In my role as the MSW and PHD Program Coordinator I provide administrative support for the MSW program, within the Academic Affairs unit, as well as support for the PhD program office. My goal working in higher education is to create better environments for the holistic functioning of our vibrant community of students, staff, and faculty.   

Professional Biography

Freyja Hofler is a staff member at the Graduate School of Social Work as well as a doctoral student in the Higher Education program at the Morgridge College of Education. Their career experience in higher education includes previous roles in residential learning communities, summer programming, and event planning.

As a researcher their trajectory began as a research assistant in a developmental psychology research laboratory at Bowling Green State University supporting research in child psychology, ethnic and gender identity, and health psychology. As their experience grew, they were hired to support multiple researchers on new topics such as film psychology. These experiences shaped their own interests as a researcher as they began to lead their own research groups and projects on topics such as student health choices, immigration and ethnic clothing, and creative wellness in academia.  

As an artist, they have received several institutional and state level awards and grants across a variety of artistic categories such as drawing, painting, and film. Their work focuses on exploring topics of neurodiversity, intergenerational trauma, immigrant culture, and biracial experiences in the United States.
