What I do
As part of GSSW Student Affairs, I serve as the primary academic advisor for online MSW students and connect all GSSW students with resources. I support inclusive, student-centered policies and am passionate about removing barriers to education and empowering future social workers to create change.
Professional Biography
Maggie Heyduk is the Manager of Professional Advising at GSSW, where she leads a team of advisors and supports MSW students, particularly those in the online program, through individualized academic planning and meaningful resource connection. She is passionate about removing barriers to education and empowering future social workers to stay on track and create meaningful change in their communities. Her work centers on building inclusive, student-centered systems rooted in care, consistency, and connection. Prior to GSSW, Maggie worked in secondary education as a high school teacher and student support coordinator, later serving as Assistant Principal of Student Services at a public charter school in Denver. There, she led academic and behavioral interventions, coached educators, and restructured inequitable grading practices. At GSSW, she brings a social work-informed approach to advising, has led efforts to reinvigorate the school’s Food Pantry, and serves on multiple DU and GSSW committees focused on equity, access, and student well-being.
