The Center for Equity Research

Bridging research, policy, people-- grounded in evidence, guided by community.

The Center for Equity Research (C4ER) transforms systems by connecting community needs with rigorous, evidence-based research. In a time of continued social and political change, organizations are facing new challenges and opportunities in how they work, serve, and engage with their communities. C4ER remains committed to facilitating and creating organizational change through critical reflection, policy development, and culture building.

Our Team

Led by Executive Director Dr. Shetal Vohra-Gupta, C4ER is a space where research meets practice, where ideas become action, and where communities—both on and off campus—feel supported in driving change.

Our Mission

Center for Equity Research transforms systems by connecting community needs with rigorous, evidence-based research. Grounded in critical inquiry, community voiced research, policy analysis, and moral courage, we uncover and address the root causes of inequity. Through community partnership, policy development, and leadership cultivation, we produce actionable insights, shape fair and accountable policies, and equip leaders and organizations to drive sustainable, systemic change.

Our Vision

We envision a society where institutions operate fairly, communities thrive through shared opportunity, and leadership reflects the diversity of lived experience. By standing at the intersection of scholarship and civic responsibility, C4ER builds bold collaborations across sectors to shift the systems, structures, and stories that shape people’s lives -- creating a future where fairness is practiced, measurable, and enduring.
