Tony Grampsas Youth Services (TGYS) Program Evaluation
Goal: The key goals of the TGYS evaluation are to: 1) build enhanced evaluation capacity of grantees and improve their ability to use data for program improvements; and 2) provide TGYS with reliable and usable data with which they can assess grantee outcomes across diverse funding categories and effectively communicate findings to key stakeholders and legislators.
The Tony Grampsas Youth Services (TGYS) Program is a statutory program in Colorado that provides funding to local organizations for prevention, intervention and education programs for children, youth and their families. Funded TGYS programs are designed to prevent youth crime and violence, youth marijuana use and child abuse and neglect. The evaluation study is expected to use pre-/post-surveys of youth served by TGYS programming to assess program outcomes and annual implementation surveys of the direct service workforce to assess fidelity to program models. We will work with CDHS staff and grantees during the first grant year to review the existing TGYS evaluation framework, make adjustments where necessary and put in place an evaluation plan for the remainder of the 3-year grant cycle. Along with our partners at ResultsLab, we will also conduct ongoing training and technical assistance to help build evaluation knowledge and capacity within grantee organizations.
