Professional Biography
Professor Lena Lundgren, PhD, was born north of the Article circle in Sweden. She is first-generation college educated. When she first arrived to the U.S. as a social work student, she completed her internships at Cook County Hospital and Jane Adams Hull House. She received her PhD in social work from The School of Social Services Administration at the University of Chicago.
Lundgren is currently a professor at GSSW and an adjunct professor at the Umea University Department of Social Work. She is nationally and internationally known for her research on access, use and outcomes of treatment for substance use disorder, her registry studies and her community-based work.
