2024 Four Corners Commencement Celebration
11 Four Corners MSW students joined the ranks of GSSW alumni in 2024
On May 10, the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) celebrated the accomplishments of 11 Four Corners MSW Program students who graduated in 2024 — the program’s 22nd year. Through their field internships, this year’s class of graduates contributed more than 9,900 hours of service to Four Corners communities. The Class of 2024 joins the ranks of more than 200 other alumni who have graduated from the program, many of whom continue to serve rural communities in Colorado and throughout the Four Corners region.
Two awards were presented at this year’s ceremony: The Catherine F. Alter Merit Award and the Robert G. Boe Field Agency of the Year Award. Named for Dean Emerita Catherine F. Alter, GSSW dean from 1996–2006, the Alter Award recognizes a graduating Four Corners MSW Program student who most closely epitomizes the best of professional social work: a keen intellect, a passionate dedication to empowering underserved populations, and a commitment to continuously improving practice. Precious Holcomb was the recipient of this year’s award. Holcomb interned at the Grief Center of Southwest Colorado, which received the Field Agency of the Year Award. Dedicated to Robert G. Boe, who worked as a field liaison and field supervisor from 2003 to 2010, the award recognizes individual field supervisors and agencies who have demonstrated a commitment to supervising a MSW student.
