UCLA Learning Circles

Goal: Customize the learning circle approach for LA Department of Children and Family Services and develop curriculum and supporting materials

Learning circles aim to improve practice and organizational functioning through peer engagement and learning. In a learning circle, colleagues engage in a solution-building process to address the issues most important to them. Learning circle topics are chosen by the group, and they identify their own issues, make decisions about how to address those issues, and then implement changes. The group promotes a culture that encourages members to think, explore, and act together. Butler facilitated the process to customize the learning circle approach, developed targeted curriculum, provided training, and created marketing materials to promote the approach.
