Orientation is a combination of asynchronous work (work done on your own prior to orientation), live sessions (both in-person and on Zoom) and optional office hours. Participation in all sessions is mandatory unless otherwise stated.

Virtual Speaker Sessions: Wednesday, September 7, 2022
The Future of Social Work: 1:00–1:45 p.m. MT
This session will include a welcome from orientation hosts, remarks from Dean Amanda Moore McBride, and Q&A time with Dean McBride and Kate Ross Director Denver Campus MSW Program.

This session will include Associate Dean for DEI and Associate Professor Michele Hanna sharing ways to create inclusive learning communities.
Welcome and Graduate Student Expectations: 3:00–3:45 p.m. MT
This session will include Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Lisa Reyes Mason sharing about graduate student expectations and current COVID protocol.

Field Session: 9:00—10:00 a.m. MT
This session will include a field overview from Assistant Dean for Field Education and Community Partnerships and Associate Professor of the Practice Aneesha Bharwani. The mandatory meet and greet with your field liaison on September 14 will build upon this session.
Advising Meet & Greet: 10:15 a.m.—12:00 p.m. MT
This session will include an advising overview from Denver Campus Director Kate Ross and breakout room discussions with students and faculty.
Lunch on Your Own: 12:00 —1:00 p.m. MT
Enjoy lunch on your own!
Aligning Your Career Workshop: 1:00 —2:00 p.m. MT
This session will include a Career Services overview from Career Development Advisor Stacy Said. She’ll share actions you can take while in graduate school to prepare for your career and build your network.
Student Panel & GSSW Closing: 2:15 —3:15 p.m. MT
This session will include GSSW students sharing their experiences and answering questions.

Mandatory Virtual GSSW Field Liaison Meet and Greet: 9:00—10:30 a.m. MT
This mandatory session is an opportunity for all students starting field placement in the Fall Quarter to meet their GSSW Field Liaison and obtain important information needed to start field successfully. Since there are no live course sessions with your SOWK 4950/4970 Course Instructor (your GSSW Liaison), this is your opportunity to connect and learn about the expectations for field. Join Associate Professor of the Practice of Social Work Kate Ross for come-and-go advising sessions to answer any questions you may have remaining.
